all but the cherry barbs and 2 of the mollies are fully grown. the filtration is a fluval 3+ filter, and no, have had no problems with cloudy water at all. it doesnt look like there is a lot of fish in there, they have plenty of space. i had the water tested in the pet store yesterday and it was perfect, so i am happy. i cant see that 17 fish is too much for a 96 litre tank

Just seems like a lot to me. I'm not an expert, and I certainly haven't dealt much with the smaller tropical setup like you have...I have to base everything off the fact that my bichirs might/will eat any smaller fish I add, so 17 fish sounds like a ton to me automatically since I'm used to numbers like 5 or 6 ;)

I suppose as long as your fish are healthy, have space and aren't stressed out, you're fine.

You could try convicts in the 20, thats my plan for my 20gal...I'm wanting to get a breeding pair of convicts and use the fry as feeders in my 65:headbang2 I think jewel cichlids might also stay around that size?

warning though...if you do get fish like that and you do end up with a breeding pair, they'll kill EVERYTHING in the tank. (or so I've been told)

i dont have any birchir in my 25 gallon tank. all my fish are under 3 inches, and wont grow much more, barring the cory's who will be seperated when they get bigger. apparently they can grow up to 4-5 inches, so when they get that big i will keep 2 of them in the 25 gallon, and move 2 to the 20 gallon. i am very tempted to get a pair of convicts for the 20 gallon, but wont they grow to big after a while? i did want silver dollar's but i am told they need a bigger tank. oh, and if i got the convicts i dont think i would keep anything else with them, maybe a bristlenose plec but that would be it.

ok, so i am now thinking a pair of kribensis would be good in my 20 g. probably wont keep anything else in there though, apart from maybe a plec

just the pair of kribensis cichlid the pleco will eat the eggs.

Get a 55 gal and do it. Cichlids are the best.

i dont have room for a 55 gal. i have a 25 on a stand in my living room, a 20 on the table n my kitchen, and a 3 on the kitchen worktop. i only have a small house. am in the process of renovating upstairs, and will eventually have space for a 55 in my bedroom, but not for about a year yet. would a pair of kribs be ok in a 20 gal for a year? but then i wanted a puffer fish in my bedroom (freshwater if i can get one). is there anything i could keep in the 20 with a pair of kribs?
