Ok I have a question
With the way things are looking you younger folk are not going to have much to look forward to.
And those of you with children, why are you not climbing the walls??

Actually most of the big players who make the decisions that caused these changes have kids too

I don't understand.
what's the point of accumulating money and power when there is nothing and no one left to leave it to??

Faith that science will solve the problem?

or belief that these are end times in any case?

Fatalism?
I've used that to justify alternatively hedonistic and spartan lifestyles

enlighten me folks
I'm 40 with no kids, the cats will last maybe another 10 years, So i don't have a real Personal stake in the world 30 years from now.

Most of you do.
Since I was 15 it's not like things have changed for the better, back then all we worried about were the Russians
Wasn't like the planet was pissed at us too

Well I don't even have ideas anymore on how to fix stuff
my deal was always medicine

Tell, answer, ideas this actually matters and people are just like dammit
my a/c bill was 1000 dollars
(ok i do it too)

I'm really not sure what you're saying (or asking...).
Do you want to know what I'm going to do about the environment?

I am assuming by this that you are rich and don't have a plan on who to leave your belongings and accounts too when you bite the bullet someday. I have a solution: ME:D

Why aren't people more vocal/passionate/ upset about what most scientists accept as a fact that the climate is changing and the world will most likely NOT be a better place for their kids?
I mean big arguments about abortion, religeon, racism, war in iraq,
But just as a by the way
"oh yeah in about 20 years a lot of cities will be under water and much cropland will no longer be fertile"
I'm like HUH?
Mad max was a cool movie but it was a terrible world.

You know why I don't take all of it seriously. Because we have been predicting the end of the world since the beginning of time. I plan on having a wife and kids and a family, and I'm going to live my life and do anything and everything to provide for them and love them. So as a 20 year old there are always going to be issues in the world. Things I have no control over. Whatever. I'll control what I can. And that's that. I had to check back on what you said because I got off track. I'll just stop rambling now.

No lol hardly rich
I work enough to (barely) pay my bills
Life is too short , there's always something else to learn and do
or some new fish to buy

I'm just ruminating today because i'm out with the bronchitis thing so if i infect my coworkers they'll give it back to me.

Actually I'm going to have to work more, just to get out of the house and off this stupid computer
( be nice if i grew into the couch wouldn't it)

OK how did that woman go to the bathroom might i ask?

I know what I am going to do about the environment: laundry. There is a pile of clothes on my floor, that is really messing up my environment. You might think on a larger scale, but I take it one step at a time. If the end is near, I want clean undies.

I like your thinking :D

Ok assume everyone got scared and decided to do something about it right now today
is it even feasable at this point?

what kind of draconian measures would it take?

I don't know enough about global resources, would we relocate everyone to cities?
Is it even possible to grow enough food now without pesticides and fertilizers and such?

Ok are species stocks (like in the oceans)
so low that they will never recover?

So DW while I agree with you in principle, how does doing laundry using an "ecologically friendly" soap help when it uses electricity?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems almost as if a positive feedback system is setup
