In Long Island sound warm water fish such as spotfish,northern kingfish and even triggerfish are being caught.

Here in the midwest, on Dec 21 the ice became 5" thick and ice fishing has started. Probably a short early season, as it is going to be 50F today, with lots of rain.
Aquarium collectors have been catching stray fish such asbLue angelfish,blue spotted cornetfish,snowy grouper,two spot butterflyfish and buffalo trunkfish for the aquarium trade,off New York ,these waifs would otherwise die in winter.
I don't know where you are but around here we're still the fishing hard water.
Ye. It thickens overnight and by two or three I wouldn't walk on it. However it's supposed to be single digit temps next week so it should freeze for the season by the fourth or fith.
Cool,most of the time it isn't safe to walk on the ice out here,it usually doesn't get thick enough(we get a lot of people who try and drown tho)

The Des Moinse river is still flowing 10,000 cfs, from a avg of 2000 cfs. Last I looked on friday, it was solid ice. Before the rain on Christmas.
I am chilling in the house with the flu. The worst one I have ever had. Heck it caused one eye to even stick shut. Feel like a cat with feline distemper. Look about the same.

Hello; A few decades ago I had a bad flu. I had been trying to quit smoking for a couple of years and used the flu as a motivation.
Kept telling myself the ***s (edit- the site nanny blanked the letters for an old term for a cig) were a primary cause for my catching the flu. I was so miserable for long enough that when I got well enough to want a cig the worst of the craving was over. The flu misery was still fresh enough to keep me away from them and I have not touched one since.
I am a welder, so I breath weld smoke at work. I have been using a PAPR, HEPA filter, for the last 5 years.
Usually I can sleep for 36 hours and get over it and miss a day or two of work.
With this version sleeping, even laying down lasted only 15 minutes. Ended up taking benadryl, Claritin, and Sudafed. ( Dr Rx, codine, steroids, ) guefiensin, 1000 MG ibuprofen.
Finally slept 2 hours on 2 MG melatonin, and nyquil.
Hard to heal, when you can't sleep.
