luckily no fish or people were harmed. this heater was plugged in and did NOT trip the GFCI for whatever reason. needless to say, this heater is going back and i'm replacing the GFCI outlet just in case.

How is this Ebay's fault,is the heater their brand?

it' a non-branded heater sold on ebay. if you search "aquarium heater" you will find a bunch of these heaters from different sellers. you can compare them to the pictures.

just to be clear: i am not blaming ebay for bad heaters. it's 100% the manufacturer's fault.

Gotcha and glad to know that no one was harmed.

"SUNSUN" is the name on the box but that was not mentioned on the item page... hopefully that helps someone.

The gfi, ground fault interuptor, is the problem. The electrcity leak, could come from any thing.

i don't understand what you're saying.

the GFCI could not have caused the heater to flood with water and as far as i know there wasn't any electricity leak (GFCI did't pop). however, there may be a problem with my GFCI because it failed to trip... OR the electricity was contained to the unit and didn't trigger the GFCI. either way i'll be replacing the GFCI. also, the GFCI will pop if i manually test it.
