I do envy you.
Gr8, the shooting sports are awesome.
You can get into MANY different aspects of the hobbies from hunting to skeet shooting to long range target shooting, and everything in between. You can even get into old military firearms from WWII which are VERY popular these days as we are loosing our WWII vets very fast now.
If you like fast and athletic type of hobbies, check out IDPA, three gun or even cowboy shooting. All very fun and challenging.

As far as a waste of money. Nope, given the state I'm in I can sell it for exactly what I paid, never would but no loss. I reload so ammo isn't that bad. Besides the SW500 is more expensive to shoot and no one chimed in about that being a waste of money.

I didn't comment on the SW500 being a waste because I have never owned or shot one. I am a fan of the larger caliber revolvers. They seem significantly more reasonable/enjoyable for hunting despite ammo cost.
AK have you checked out the grips company I linked a few pages back? You should if you haven't. Very cool custom work for 1911 models. I am jealous of your kimber BTW.
