I would feel like I am walking a dog or something only its my kid.

Well, most parents don't seem to. It wasn't a shot at anyone and I'm not just saying that because I hate kids as I have one myself.
I don't see how it's acceptable as a society (at least acceptable by law) to put your kid on a leash (a lot of times just because the parent's are too lazy to watch their kids) while spanking your kids in public will get you into big trouble.

As far as you 2nd paragraph society thinks that it understands how everything works yet know one can agree on anything.There are many things that should be accepted by society and isn't and many things that should not be accepted but are. So you just have to do what you think is best for your family.
I have used a leash on my son, at the zoo. He runs off to fast. It was just a game for him, so we stopped using it. He would just pull on it, and lean forward. It was funny though.

It's just so they can turn their back and not have to worry with in reality when someone is in the mall and you have your back turned it is SO easy for someone to come up and cut it and snag your kid or something. I think people are just getting lazier over time. No offense to ANYONE who uses them, JMO. Please don't take it wrong. I mean I understand when there are times where it would make it easier like how he said the zoo. But for people at the mall... or even grocery store...
