I would advise against keeping uarus with severums. I've kept mine in a 125 for a while with a slightly larger female gold sev that I moived from another tank. That severum made uarus her *****es within days. They were even afraid to come out to eat.

I have three uarus ( 5-6") I keep with severums and have no trouble with them or the Sevs. Mine eat the above mentioned food , love baby spinach leaves,
fd mealworms, crickets and earthworms, even a feeder rosie now and then that I place in the tank for my RCK .

Great fish, raised two from about 1.5" and the other from "T-Time". :headbang2 Great additions to a community SA cichlid tank...

i have 3 in with 2 sevs, 3 blue acara and 2 geos in a 125. they are all fairly small now (3-4") except one sev is 7" no problem with them and sevs so far. they are nice fish you will enjoy them

They are my favorite cichlid. Mine are not at all shy; they are big bullying pigs. But they should not be housed with super aggressive fish. They need vegetable matter in their diet (blanched peas, spinach, etc.) I get dried seaweed for mine. But they love all food and will eat everything, including platies, as my husband found out.

The uaru-forum.com mentioned above is a great resource.

uarus are among my favorites as well. I have two (6-8") they are in a mixed tank with severums, younger dempseys and earhteaters and a few other random fish. no one bothers them at all and they actually chase my sevs around daily...
