Thank you Guppy, I came across a few good ones and that is a good one too. I have this question though, I have my Crayfish completely submerged in the water...should I make land for him to come out of the water? Is this compulsory? So far he looks fine, active and aggressive.

Another question, how can I compare a Red Swamp Crayfish with a Red Rusty Crayfish? They look the same and it makes me wonder what do I really have..hmm.

Anyway, just random Pictures from the net for this thread:

I have a 5 or 6" one that lives in the 265 with 35 big cichlids..... I can't believe he hasn't become food.

That's cool. Is there any chance we could have a look at a picture of your Red Swamp Crayfish? I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't become food because it just has a threatening way of defencing itself.

Of course in the wild they are eaten by big fishes. Red Swamp Crayfish is awesome though.:headbang2

i've never seen a rusty with anything like the red coloring of the clarkii. i get both species at work and typically since i HATE rusty crays (not native in my area) i take those home to feed my Mbu and big lung.

thats the typical appearance for the rusties i see.

i hope this helps somewhat.

That is a great cray. Can they cross breed with blues? Someone traded in 4 specimens, they have purple/blue bodies and red claws.

If the water is well oxygenated it should be fine fully submerged.
