Water-Bridge?

as hybridtheory hinted at with the ebay link, acrylic will be much cheaper than clear PVC.

I've linked two 10g using 4" standard PVC. One tank had apistos and the other had some danios. They used the bridge plenty.

try phoning them up asking about free samples, you might be able to get a length enough for the bridge and then cap each end with normal pvc, i have seen that done and it looked pretty good and cheap.

I've been thinking about doing this for awhile but couldn't find clear piping.
But I think you could use black or white pvc with holes cut into the side facing the room. Then silicone on windows cut from the center sections of 1 liter plastic Pepsi bottles. It would not have to be very strong to hold the pressure of a few inches of water. And if I understand this correctly, the suction of water trying to escape by gravity would pull on and seal the windows mounted to the outside of the pipe.
It would look more industrial than pretty. But you could cover the pipe with anything and leave the windows exposed.
This would be cheap cheap. It just has to hold the water from pushing out until the elbow openings are turned upside down and the suction comes into play.
I'm sure it would work. Easy to test though. Just set it up outside in two buckets. If it holds for a week or so, move it inside.
