I like the idea... i have the same but it looks like you can fill your tank faster then mine... I pump from ground level up... Plus if i took apart my shower head my mom might get mad lol. Also do you shut down your filter when you fill it up? it looks like alot of sand blows up in the water when you re fill it.... try a plate under it maybe?

Yes, I shut off the filter while filling tanks with sand bottom

lol 500 gallons thats alot. all that going into your grass your gonna end up with a canyon. your ideas are good. personally tho if it was me with that amount i would add a refugiums to the tanks, so the plants remove the nitrates and you wouldnt ever have to do a water change.
