I have a 50g with a marineland c360 running on it, i just did about 50% water change the same as i always do, and i get it filled back up put my prime in started up the filter....everything went fine for about 5-10 minutes and then all of a sudden theres tiny white stuff everywhere, like its snowing in the tank, and when it first started i swear it seemed like it came from the filter. i cleaned the filter less than a month ago so it shouldnt be that, has this ever happened to anyone? should i remove my fish? i took a video of it i could put up if no one has ever had this happen. :WHOA:

Sounds like you shook some biofilm loose from the inside of the tubing/hoses when you started it back up. Probly nothing to worry about.

alright...theres ALOT though, and it took 5-10 minutes to start happening...but thanks for easing my worries

Yeah, on occasion bio-material will come loose and make the water look like dirty bits are in the tank untill it's filtered back out of the water.

similar thing happened to me yesterday, cleaned one of my canisters, i guess i didnt clean it enough, it started "snowing" when i turned it on. I dont think its realy harmful, but i did let it settle to the bottom for a few hours and did a gravel vac just to be sure

WHOOO CHRISTMAS!!!

I just noticed the same thing in my 75. Not sure what caused it because I haven't done a water change in over 24hrs. Tiny white flakes. I've noticed the stuff accumulating in my filter tubing as well. I always thought bio film was black or brown?? Not white. I assumed it was calcium build-up but it doesn't appear to dissolve.

Happens when I dont flush my fluval tubing every other service. Once I had so much in the tubing it slowed the flow an incredible amount. Since then I use a pressure nozzle and bottle brush and keep the lines totally clean.
