water change help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
on the dechlorine addition you only need it in city water. well water is free of chlorine

I found that the suction on the python sucks so I run a hose out my back door and then to fill I hook the python to the kitchen sink and fill the tank back up. I use water conditioner and try to match the temp of the tank when I fill up

wat i do in water changes is to use my 30g tote and two 5 gallon buckets

the tote is set next to my tank and 1 bucket is filling up at the sink once it is filled i put the other bucket up so i dont waste a single minute.

going back to the tote fill it up each time the buckets are ready

change like 50% a week

also with tap water conditioner

I use a 5g bucket to the john on my tanks.. remember 20% is just 2.2 buckets on a 55g tank

Do perhaps 2 to 1.5 buckets for a 20%

At home I don't treat the water, but at work I do.

I use a gravel vac to suck water out and I put it right out the window(the bushes there are huge now!!!). Then I have a treated water tanks, plastic 50 gal drums with heaters and small powerheads. I use a MagDrive24 to pump the water out of the basement (drums) into the tanks. I normally use 1/2 R/O and 1/2 tap with conditioner. Works pretty well and I can change my conditions by using more or less R/O water if I need.

I use 5 gallon buckets on all my tanks (4 currentlyranging from 30 gal to 90 gal). I use stresscoat to dechlorinate. i also macth the temp i am adding to the temp in the tank using a thermometer. more work but i enjoy the time around my tanks.
