i just took out about 50 gallons of water from my 220 for my weekly water change. i normally remove the water, add conditioner, and then add the new water. but i realized that i only have enough conditioner for 30 gallons. is it safe to fill my tank all the way? i cant go to the store or anything for a while.

I have never used water conditioner, only city tap water and my fish are all doing great including my aba aba. I think you should be fine.

I only use water conditioner on my ray tank.. so my other 16 tanks go untouched with it, and I have city water... all are fine.

Personally I wouldn't risk it. Your fish will survive even if they don't have their water filled up to the top. Don't stress, just pick up some more water conditioner the next time you can and re-add the water then.

cant run the filter though and itll be awhile before i get to go to the store. is 20 gallons of water thats not treated a really big deal for a 220 gallon tank?

Not a big deal at all. I promise.

The chlorine and other nasty things are already so diluted that it wont make a difference. I've done up to 20% water changes without conditioner before with no issues, and yours is less than 10%.

Fill that tank back up and get it running again.

I do 75% water changes with no conditioner. Just make sure the incomming water is crashing up against a rock or the glass. This will dissipate the chlorine. And make sure the filters are running for aeration. Good luck Monsta.

water conditioner? wow in this country there is no need to use it. we have hardly any chlorine or nasties like that in the water out of the tap, in fact my water is pretty much perfect to just dunk in the tank without any issues...

I don't think that it splashing on a rock with dissipate the chlorine in the water. This is the FIRST time I have EVER heard of that.

However, I just did a 70% water change on a 50 gallon tank with cichlid fry in it, and I used no conditioner.

Plus, 20 gallons out of 220- I agree with Joe M- It will be so diluted it won't make a difference.
