When I do my water changes should I add the dechlorinator to the WC water before I add it to my tank, or should I add the water to the tank and then add in the dechlorinator?

some add it before, i always have added the dechlorinator to the tank first and then add the new water, never had a problem doing it this way

Okay. I am just asking because I have heard it done both ways and was wondering if anyone had ever done anything to see which one was actually better.

I keep a couple of large plastic heavy duty garbage cans for water changes. I fill the cans with water, add the dechlorinator and mix it. I mix it a few times, and then let it sit overnight and then use it to change my water the next day.

That is some serious dedication. I just empty the tank, add new water direct from the tap with a garden hose and add dosage of dechloninator as the tank fills up. By the time the tank is full, I have add the correct dosage for the gallonage of the tank.

Been wondering about this myself. I have a stack of 5 gallon buckets that I fill and add the treatment to. Using a garden hose and adding directly to the tank would make life much easier.
