Water Change Question.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here is another example of another nonexperts method. I used this for my overstocked 55. Would fill a 35 gallon barrel, dechlorinate, add salt and had a heater in it. Did daily large water changes with no problems because water was already treated and same temp. Lot of work but necessary til I got the bigger tank setup. Never experienced any reactions from fish.

Well, I got aquaplus after trying to decide which one i should buy... Im going to add it right now. :)

Question! How can i put the water from my 5 gallon bucket to my tank!?! i tried to siphon the water through the python hose with my mouth but it wouldnt work and my cheeks hurt!

there has to be another way than using a small bucket to take the water and dump it into the tank!~

If you want to save some money, get your supplies from THATPETPLACE.COM, its cheaper than Petland, and it takes about a day or two to get here. I always get my supplies from them, and I buy more things from them than petland for the same amount of money.

On average, I always get the items the day after I put in my order, providing you do it early in the day...before 12pm I think. You'd be surprised how you will end saving.

The python is a sweet gizmo, makes life so much easier draining/cleaning. The only mod I did to my python was use a 3/4" goodyear rubber hose, sucker drainsa lot faster. If need be I can fill my tank in 1/4 of the time. I filled my 125g in 10 minutes while the python hose, took over 45 minutes. This was initially setting up the tank...fishless cycling.

I have 2 35 gallon sterilites containers that I will fill with water and let it age, also placed a heater in there to keep it as close as possible to the tank water. I haven't needed to change water yet, as the tank is in the 3rd week of cycling. :grinno:

This is the method it use, I fill the bucket with tap water, treat with prime or equivalent, let stand for 30-60 seconds, pour the water into the tank from the bucket. now the 5 gallon bucket full of water is about 40 pounds, and you don't want to just dump the water in to the tank. You may want to empty some of it with the smaller bucket until you can lift and pour the home depot bucket. I myself just got done doing this 25 times over the last couple hours.

Also If ya can post some pics of your ebjd's and jd's.

sure thing :)

I knew that would be the answer. hehe. using a bucket to just dump in the water.
