In the beginning of that thread I was getting ammonia ...but as the thread progress in was not. There are even pics which show 0 ammonia.

Im gonna find out whats inn my water I am on city water so maybe chloramine.

Yes the tank isn't mature.
Militant potato. I always just dose for the entire tank. Maybe your right about the tap gonna look into it. I hope I am not going to have to go through a whole cycle again

Unless you added dechlorinator after adding new water, the temp of the new water was within 2F of the tank water, and you didn't mix around the gravel I doubt you killed much if any bacteria.

Once a tank is established, I mix up and syphon gravel regularly, figure it keeps the bulk of the bacteria in the filter and not in the substrate among many other benefits.

I only dose dechlor for the amount of water I'm changing, if course my water is pretty much pristine with nearly no detectable chlorine or chloramine and no nitrates.

That's legit.
Most (all?) dechlornators remove a specfic amount of disinfectants. Prime lists the concentration of chlorine/chloramine it removes at the recommended dosing. If your tap water has nearly none, you'll need very little dechlorinator.
On the flip side, if there's a lot (after a rain, work on mains, etc.) of disinfectants added, and the recommended dosages might not be enough!

I always underdose to be safe but I still feel better using it.

Thanks guys cant really find whats in the city water gonna check more when I get home.... I did clean the gravel though myabe that's the problem ?

OP, I know you're following advice from others in another thread about cycling, and there LOTS of ways to cycle a tank. To each his own. But, me personally, when I was cycling a new tank, I didn't do any water changes, I didn't clean glass or gravel vac, nothing. I think others that recommend water changes during a tank cycle do small water changes, like 10-25%. As for chlorine/chloramine in the tap water, if you live in the US and get municipal water, it's got chlorine in it, or chloramine. If you have your own well, no chlorine, or if you use rain water, but if you have city water then there's chlorine/chloramine in it.

Yeah I know I was kind of making things harder on myself with the wc but one of the tanks is in his room (the one that is almost done) son I wanted to keep the fish alive. I didnt want to use ammonia in his room so I used fish.. Tested tonight and it was 0.
