Water Change Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Can anyone recommend a good pump to use for draining/refilling a 150 gal? Length of hose is about 20 feet long, height of refilling about 4 feet. Thanks.

Why are you looking for a "good" pump for just doing water changes? I use this cheapo pump attached to a garden hose to fill my 2nd floor tank that has no easily accessible plumbing. The top of this tank sits 5' high and I run about 25' of hose. Been running it for over a year with no issues.

Couldn't you filter chloramine out of the tap water?
water will need to be aged or well water, and not every one has the cash or no how to do a drip system. I siphon my tanks out the windows or slider doors. 360 gallons a week. only use the python to fill, water bill go through the roof if i used the python to drain as it takes twice as much than you are removing to use,

Here's the simple modification I did to make attach my garden hose to the pump without needing to buy all kinds of adapters. I just cut about a 12" section off from one end of the hose and wedged in right into the pumps output/return
