Water change schedule?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's like a ratio of 1:4...so you'd be looking at 30 gallon. That's what I remember of the top of my head. Bigger is still ok and better.

I considered going the sump route, my tank is set up in my living room, but I heard they can be noisy, hence my current setup. If I go that route in the future, what size tank do I need for my sump?Based on 120 gallons, and stocking will most likely be larger cichlids. Quiet operation is also a necessity. Thanks again guys
Mine is in my living room as well and its very quiet. My wife would kill me if she could hear it lol. I have a trickle filter as well. I can't stand anything loud as well when it comes to aquariums.Only noise is my sponge filters really. for my 200 gallon tank I have a 40ish gallon sump.

When the water comes in I have it on some polyfill which quiets down all the water and below that is a sponge. That gets trickles to my bio balls then to another chamber is pot scrubbies then another chamber where I have another sponge then the pump. Simple and efffective. The polyfill has a tray so I can quickly change it out when needed. Its very loud when I don't have have the tray in so the polyfill and sponge take a lot of the sound away.
