Simply put. I have a 55 gal. Temp is constant 80.1 - 80.3 I use the water hose to refill after change. The temp of the water from the hose is cooler obviously. Is it ok to just go ahead, and change using the cooler water? I generally do 10 - 15 gallons every 8 days. As far as the actual temp of the hose not really sure. It's not freezing or anything, but I bet it's at least 65 or so.

What is the temperature after you have added the water from the hose?

I'd say that's not a great idea,IMO.The new water should be as close to tank temp as possable. The temp drop will affect some fish more than others, but I'd say 15 gal of tap water in a 55 will drop the temp more than a couple deg.
Could cause an outbreak of ick as well.

Ok well how does this sound I get a new clea 5 gal. bucket, and let it get to room temp before I add it. I wish I had a faucet close enough to the tank to put warmer water in, but I dont. In the summer time it's no prob because the tap from the hose is warm enough.

That would be better for sure:D.use 3 buckets. This way you can treat the water before introducing it into your tank.:)

I have a 20gal and I do 30% water changes every weekend. I use water from the hose outside the house and let it sit in a bucket for a while until it is at/close to room temperature before adding it to the tank.

just add a few gallons of hot water from the faucet....

I never thought of that. It should warm it up in no time. I'll give it a try. Well off to the store to buy buckets.

ooooohhhh one more thing I almost forgot. I have about 30 con fry in the tank right now. Does that affect anything? They are still small matter of fact pappa just took them out for their first swim around the tank or should I say bottom of the tank today.

When I worked at a lfs, we did water changes with "cold" water from a hose. Never lost a fish from it. I do it in my own tanks, and never have any problems. Maybe if you had delicate fish like discus... but convicts? I SERIOUSLY doubt they will mind the temporary temp drop.
