So I'm not to experienced in breeding, outside of convicts I've never spawned anything. I came home from work today to find my nics guarding eggs. My question is can i still do my regular water changes while the spawn is going on or should i put it off?

I just do a water change like how I normally would. I spawned cons, rainbow cichlids, salvinis, fire mouths, chocolate cichlids and even my wild caught flier cichlids. I just avoid the area of where they spawned.

Is it in a community? If it is then most likely none will make it. If they're by themselves and the tank is heavily planted or the tank has a lot of DW and hiding spots them some will. My pairs never successfully raise fry on their own. I always had to pull them out if I want them to grow.

I think given adequate hiding places the fry will survive. But if this is your pairs first spawn then I doubt the fry will survive unless you pull them out.
