k thanks alot guys i wont get the gravels now but im really interested on buying this 20 gallon tank for now.

Is this for your Jardini? what size tank do you have him in now? You better be looking at alot bigger tank. you could get a 75 gallon but thats only gonna last a few months. You do know how big jardinis get dont you.

You should add the water conditioner before you put the tap water in the tank. Ideally you should let it lie for 24 hours before putting it in the tank..

thanks for the correction Miguel,

Thomas_2k, why would you say?

so which is it? black gravels for your filter? or black gravels for your substrate?

word of advice: dont buy a 20 gallon tank..he'll out grow that thing really quick...then you'll have to just go and buy yourself another tank...as Bderick67 said, a 75 gallon should last you a few monthes. anything less than that would be ultimately wasting money, IMO....at the moment i have my 5" Jardini in a 20 gallon (1st tank he was in) and i went out and bought myself a 120 gallon (already cycling;) ) i'll wait till hes alittle bigger then the 120 gallon is all his, except for a few Pleco tankmates that is:D ...

Come on guys your being a bit harse. If you honestly have a 200 in the plans then keep the fish. I would suggest getting a 75 instead of a 20 or atleast something thats 4ft long. A jardini would out grow a 20 to quick for it to be of any real use.

I also suggest you do lots of research (either on the net or buy some books) as you seem to be relitvily new to fish keeping and have a rather demanding fish (good to see your willing to ask Q.). Just make sure you do weekly waterchanges, have good filtration, feed it properly and provide the largest tank possible (imo; min tank size is 2 times as long and as wide as the fish for a GROW OUT TANK, but 3 times as long for a PERMINATE RESIDENSE)
