No matter how well you prepare, when you do water change, your tank water temperature always drops, thus, causes the fish to vomit the food. For the same reason, sometimes, fish doesn't eat well, if you feed them right after doing water change. I always feed a day before or after the day that I do water change.packer43064;4402198; said:I've had larger skittish catfish that after feeding shrimp then doing a WC they vomited it back up.
I have since stopped doing water changes immediately after feeding. but I'm tempted to do water changes immediately after feeding.
I agree with this......90% of the time regurgitations in ANY ectotherm are due to temperatures , the other 10% is stress or pathogens. I always refill w/ water slightly warmer than the tank and NEVER cooler. Lower temps will almost always cause regurge. However, I still do pellets and flakes on WC days, and I have never had a fish regurge in my lifeI feed before a water change...hours after. I give the fish time to digest.
