im my 75 gal tank i have been having a problem with cloudy water for about a week now my filtration is an emporer 400 biowheel. i have done all my water test and all is normal. so about 4 days ago i started doing water changes at about 25% every other day. how much is too much its helpng so i want to continue. but i dont want to keep stressing my fish out.:nilly:

oh yeah im not sure why it started getting cloudy but i would guess it had to be one of the following reasons

1. added new bogwood ( i soaked it for a week)
2. i feed my pleco's cucumber and it was in the tank too long
3.added new fish

right now i have 2 5inch p-bass 1pleco 1 tilapia 4inch. i thought the emporer 400 was for up to a 90 gal.

thanks im not vaccuming the bottom just water changes..... i did another one this morning its starting to help but not perfect yet

Fish looooove fresh water. What you're doing right now could be continued for their whole life and would do nothing but GOOD for them. I change 30% of the water every day when I have baby fish in a tank. I've had zuchinni cloud the water like that, too. Don't be afraid to syphon the bottom, that gets all the 'gunk' out of there.

You got your self some future monsters in your tank. I would add another filter maybe a ac110 they work well and are fairly cheap.

When i had fresh water i always filled the entire back wall with all the hob filters i could get on it...i think most hob are way over rated on what size tanks they can filter and thats with a small bio load... if the filter says it will filter a 75g tank then i say it will filter a 25g tank (just a personal opinion)

I think you should definitely add more filtering. I've used multiple HOB filters in my life, nothing beats the AC110.. I love this filter, I have used them FOREVER.

Right now I'm running 1, set on the low setting, on a 22-gallon-cube-tank with 40-cardinal-tetras, water is crystal-clear.

I used to run 2 on a 45-gallon with 3 huge-ryunkin-pooping-machines, there the best HOB filter.

I've tried the bio-wheel-setups with dedicated angel-fish tanks to have less current in the tank, and the tank was always cloudy. Switched to AC110 water was crystal.

Can't say anything BUT GOOD with AC110's, (never used there smaller-models) but I'm sure they work well. I don't use the carbon, either 2 of the foam blocks, or one foam block and the rest packed with bio-media.
