Water changes...oh the horror!

I plumbed a T into the outlet of my FX5 with a ball valve on each point. The perpendicular line in the T closed and the other two open, normal flow. Inlet of the T open and perpendicular of the T open, outlet of the T closed; I can hook up a hose and drain the tank. Inlet of the T closed, perpendicular open and outlet open, hook up the hose to the perpendicular and the sink, and I fill up my tank through the filter's outlet hose. All I have to do is hook up a hose to my filter and I have all of these modular options. It's wonderful.

Guys I think he means he wants to reduce adding more water even if a hose is applicable..... This can mean less stock, not over feeding, fluidized filter, or plants. I spent a total investment of 20$ and for a lifetime my wc are cut in half, my h20 bill is 90$/month, 50% of that my tanks, 50% of that is my 125 so I can save 25$ on my h20 that equals 22.50$/month x 12 equals 270$/year in savings....... Id say that's worth it lol.

Pm received.

It all depends on ur n03 levels. Don't be putting out bad info for other mfkers. People test your water, change when levels are 50ppm+

I have a natural well in my garden which I use for my 150 gallon and my ten gallon I do 50 % water change on my 150 once a week n that has a 15 inch silver and 13 inch tsn. And once a month on my ten gallon axolotl tank coz thats planted and overfiltered so I suppose it really depends on how big ur Fish are to bigger fish equals larger quantities of waste. Also how good ur filtration is and is ur tank planted or not. My nitrates never go over 25ppm

+1 Cant use a blanket rule of thumb for water changes. Its obviously going to depend on stocking and feeding schedule. Plus nitrate reducers like plants can make a big difference as F1 pointed out.

Btw F1, I was thinking of giving pothos a try, wasnt sure how much I would need but seeing your tank set up that gives me a starting point.

Thx man, I'm going to write up my DIY pothos thread tonight, its simple, i have 2 plants on my 125 and it consumes 15-20ppm in 5-7 days, I'm going to do 2 more eventually. Best 20$ I've spent since I've been in the fish game. I'll post link here later.
