I did some water testing on my New fresh water tank (3 weeks old) and i got 0 nitrates , i know what needs to be done in a salt water tank but i need some directions about water changes on frech water

50% change or less ?
new clean water needs to be declorified before mixing in the tank and let it sit for how long ? or just use a hose directly to the tank and declorine right after ?

once a month or a week ?

on my salt water tank i change it every once a year but i use a big nitrate remover and a big protein skkimmer :)

im clueless

Thank you

If you have good tap water, then up to 85%. If you have hard tap water like me, it's better to do 50% or less. Also, if you have very delicate fish, it's a better idea to add the dechlorinater before adding the water. If you have hardy fish, though, it's fine do add the water then the dechlorinater. What fish do you have?

First make sure it's cycled. What are the ammonia/nitrite readings?

i did the cicle with small fishes for about two weeks and then when the nitrites went down i bought the aros

in salt water is like a moth or so but i test the water almost every day until im sure is cicled and it was

0/0/0 sounds to me like it's not cycled.

The end result is nitrate and you should have a measurable amount. Either your tank is not cycled or your test kit is wrong.

it shoed amm the first 4 days , then nitrite but since is a 55g with 3 small gupies it wont show nitrate yet , now with the aro it will in a few days for sure , the tanks is only 4 weeks old

i used Bacter Vital . everything seams ok , my question is how often should i make water changes and if i can do it the simplest way wish is hose in the tank and the declorifier , or it has to be prepared on a diff container and let it sit for a while?
