Water Changes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Saves the need for reading material in the john...just watch the fish

I generally just gravity-siphon with my python, I get enough pressure to suck up the crap...refill with it. I can add Prime as a fill and my fish don't seem to be affected. Running the water to empty uses a ton of water and it doesn't give all that much more suction.

I personally just bought a roll of clear tubingtube the same diameter as my Gravel-Vac, whacked that on, and go straight out the nearest window.

Very good, but am I the only one that boggles at why there's a toilet there?. Might be an American thing.

We bought a unfinished house and have been finishing it very slowly lol. Its in the basement so nobody is ever down here but me but I walled it off with some sheets lol.

are you siphoning out the junk too are just changing the water. I python crap out and then drain my tank another 40% or so with more water efficient methods.

Not always about once a month i siphon out the crap.

You do know that dirty fish water does wonders for your plants-we planted a Citrus Plant and everyone said it wouldn't last so everytime I cleaned my tank I put that water on the tree and WOW! It is growing like a weed

Very true, fish water is great fertilizer.

I change my water the old fashion way... run multiple buckets across the house. To me, it shows how much you care and loves the hobby. It's a PITA but it's part of the hobby. I believe Mojo and Chris from Cichlidscene do the same.

:screwy:

I can't believe I ever lived without a python. It makes it so much easier.

I have an extra large vacuum tube and hose.
I dump the old water/waste into a large trash can on wheels.
Then I refill with an old broken in water hose.
I add Prime water treatment just prior to refill.

I prefer the vacum hose to the type you connect to the sink because it saves water and I can control the flow.

Hope this helps.
