I searched and came up empty handed, can someone please help? I currently change my water every week or so. When I change it its usually about a 30% change, where I check my carbon filters and rinse them accordingly with cold water. I was adding a small amount of Microb-Lift pl (LFS prescribed to help my gt who is all better now) but ran out. The gt and con dont seem to mind that I did not add it on my last two water changes. Now all I add is aquarium salt, is that enough? Im not really in to adding any chemicals, should I purchase the Microb again? Thanks in advance Al.

Depends on your water parameters. If you have chlorine or chloramines in your municiple water system, then you should be adding a water conditioner when you perform your water changes.

And never clean the tank and the filters in the same day.your tank could crash

+1.. Your filter doesn't need to be cleaned every week either! You can allow it to go for 2-3 weeks depending on the filter - some canisters can go a month without cleaning. I have two filters on one of my tanks and I'll clean one of them one time, and then clean the other the next time.

On my other tanks where I just have one filter, I clean it on an opposite day then when I do my tank cleaning.

Usually 50% water change.. thats usually how long it takes me to properly sift through the gravel. I also add water conditioner to remove chlorine.

Hope this helped!

this. adding chemicals all depends on what you have in your tapwater. if its just chlorine, you could let the water sit in a container for day and it will dissipate the chlorine. if you have chloramines, then you'll need some sort of water conditioner

Wow, These water anbd filter changes are much more than I do. I do about a 25 percent water change weekly, follow it up with vortex water polishing, and I also have a uv sterilizer. I do my filter cleanings every 3 months, unless I the water pressure drops. Am I on shaky ground. I have a 75 gallon tank with 5 medium size cons and one severum

No, youre good if you have appropriate filtration. Get a liquid test kit and check it every other time for a month or 2. If your parameters stay the same and you dont change feeding habits or add fish, youre good to go.

I do 50% weekly and add prime for the chloramines. Thats it, in all my tanks and have never had any issues and parameters are basically perfect anytime I check them.

I use a PUR water filter on my tank waater. It claims to get rid of 99 percent of the impurities. Do I really need to add an anti chlorine agent.
