As long as your changing water just do whats best for you. Either way your fish will be fine.

I used to do 3 water changes of 40% for my 2 umbees but then I stop to only 1 water change per week and it seem to be the same.. its not going to be a major difference. I know some umbee keepers that do water changes of 80% every 2 weeks and there umbees are ok
