Water Check Issue

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, keep doing till nitrates are 5-10.

Dose Prime to detoxify 1ppm ammonia.

I have prime and i use it to get rid of chlorine and all that but i heard that prime only temporarily binds for around 24 hours it doesnt actually get rid of them. Is that true?

Yes that is true but with the correct amount of live beneficial bacteria to feed off ammonia being produced it would make things easier to maintain. Also staying with a consistent water change and maintenance routine. Don't over feed until all parameters stabilize.

Sounds good, will do another 50% tomorrow with prime and check the parameters until everythings stabalized

Have you tested your tap water for ammonia and nitrate?

I just did around a 40-45% water change while gravel vacuuming the tank. I filled it back up with a 5 gallon bucket with prime in it. I put the ammonia remover in about a week ago. Its my second tank, a smaller one it is a 29 gallon it has a convict cichlid and an angel fish in it. (I know its suprising but they actually dont bother each other AT ALL.)
Use prime and keep doing water changes. You can try adding bacteria but you need to keep doing water changes twice a week. Keep using the prime and keep checking the ammonia. Will need the prime more often until under control.
