Hi, I'm upgrading from a 70 to 120 Gallon freshwater. I would like to add a tune, for tech or other circulator, maybe 2 to get rid of dead spots. Two things, they will be on a timer, I'm thinking 10 min per hour, and I really want to avoid wires in the tank.
Looking at these two, only the for tech meets what I want. I'm concerned about the min setting being too strong. Fish are discus, elephant nose, cardinals, hatchery, and Rasboras.
Are there other choices without wires in the tank? I'm guessing the vor tech can be slowed down using media around the intake.... any electronic issue with the controller being on a timer?
For filtration I have an eheim XLT 1200, two of the largest eheim eccos one of them routed through a TMC UV light.
Besides the larger volume the upgrade is to improve/automate lighting.

Vortechs are the only wireless ones I know of, and are adjustable for output and programable. Very expensive though. I've had them in the past very nice. What was the other one?

The other one is Tunze, not wireless though. When you had the Vortechs ever run them on a timer? Guess I'll contact their service dept and ask about that.

No I never put them on a timer. They have a night mode which uses a photosensor to turn itself almost off. I used them on a reef so I had them on wave maker. 2 mp 40s, at night they went into night mode just light pulses every couple mins.
