I never said Chemicals don't work, just that its only a quick fix to the actual problem, and more often than not the problem will come back in no time, sometimes within 48 hours, which is why i always prefer sorting out the root problem then using a quick fix solution...

Purigen being a filter media actually helps sort out the root problem, unlike a lot of the chemicals out there which just work as a clumping agent to bound smaller particles together to hopefully get caught in the filter media later on... but in my experience, when you use agents like that it seems to cause other problems, i.e. on finer sand substrates it seems to cause the particles to clump the sand together, which is not a good look among other problems...

depends, my 400g had one large sock, my 57g uses two small socks. im currently using 25 micron socks on my 57g, my 400g had a 100 micron inside a 50 micron.
 
you can see them hanging here. theyll only work if you have a sump

I have 4 1 inch RBP in a 75g, i do 25% wc every thur.
