The water has gotten cloudy again on my 125. The first time I thought it was because I changed the microfiltration pads out on my 2-XP3's and it went away after about 2 weeks.

I recently did a 40% water change and the next day it was cloudy again. It looks whiteish in color.

I checked the params and everything is showing 0, nitrates are at 20 and pH is 7.6. Temp is 77*F.

I did another 25% w/c last night to see if that would help and it didn't change it.

I've had this tank up for at least 6 months now with no problems. I added carbon to my xp3's the first time and it's still in the filters.

I use a water ager and age the water for a week before I do the w/c. It's not the water in the ager because I do w/c's on my 36g tank with the same water and it hasn't clouded at all.

Any ideas?

Be verry carefull using a water ager instead of chemicals because sometimes the water company will change to chlorimine without letting the public know.

I have seen tanks go through mini cycles and bacteria blooms with no real reason. I swould just keep an eye on it and it should clear up.

Have you changed the food you are using?

Is this a fish only tank or is it planted?

Well its still cloudy. I have tried full cover and no light. Used algae destroyer chemical. I dont know what else other than 100 w/c and clean tank.

i had problems like this in the past. , my tank was set up for less than 6 six months and kept getting cloudy water also. it was a mini cycle the tank kept haveing. because i would change too much water and at the same time i would clean out both filters, destroying lots of BB. try to avoid chemicals if you can. i dont think cleaning everything out would be the best idea, as you would be back to square one. maybe add extra bio-media in the canisters. in my canisters, there are 4 baskets. 2 have filter pads and floss, and the other 2 have bio-media. works well as i like to clean the pads often, and with all the bio-media, i dont have any more mini cycles. and my water stays clean.what i do is a 30% w/c every week, sometimes twice a week. and when cleaning the filter pads, i only do 1 per week to avoid removing too much BB. this is only what i do, and it works for me.just try what i have done and your water will be clear within a week or two, if we have the same problem.

It's been 5 weeks since I did the filter pad changes. That should be plenty of time to re-establish the BB in the filters. I don't think it has to do with the bacteria because the water parameters don't change. There isn't any nitrites or ammonia.

Both of my XP3's have the middle tray dedicated to bio media. I have ehfisubstrat in both middle trays, loaded down. All in all I probably have about a liter of ehfisubstrat in each XP3.

1 thing is for sure, something is causing the cloud. End of story. Either over feeding or not properly cycled, or least likely too much light.....
