I know several well known successful fish keepers that don't do any water changes, they just top off the water that evaporates and their fish thrive.

Using lots of Purigen in a filtration system greatly extends the water quality for fish health. It's rechargeable and doesn't have the downside like activated charcoal which may reduce good mineral nutrients.
Stock tanks lighter than tempted. Along with the other suggestions to Not overfeed and add pothos plants, you might be pleasantly surprised.
Just Purigen & more careful light feeding has saved my butt when I'm not well enough to do so much water changes.
all tank water goes outside by hose, not down the drain.
do my preferred large frequent water changes.
