This thread is always posted. :) Prime is what I use. Prime is what everyone should use. Prime is the best. Buy Prime!

I use the API Tap Water Conditioner. It treats way more that anything else for your money. I also use Tetra Aquasafe.

Prime! Prime! Prime!

I use to use misc. water conditioners, what ever I got for free when buying other peoples aquariums and have lost fish because of it! My water is really bad it taste like well water and pool water mixed together (I don't drink it). I don't know why its so bad any where else in the city it fine, I guess its just my house. Any ways, Prime takes care of it!

API Tap Water Conditioner is very basic and only removes chlorine but does not remove chloramines( an additve commonly used to keep chlorine stable)Not suitable for big water changes.

Prime on the other hand removes chlorine, chloramines, and also de-toxifys ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. Definately the best product on the market IMO and good for large water changes which is something common with Mfkers.

Here is a great link explaining some common water conditioners:)

Nothing will remove the chloramines, only break the bond that holds the chlorine/ammonia ions together; which sodium thiosulfate (key ingredient in most all dechlors) does. API will do fine if you don't have large amounts of chloramine, as the residual ammonia will get absorbed by the biofilter fairly quickly. I don't use it because it is not near as cost effective as prime is. For the amount you use, an equal part of prime will last you considerably longer than TWC.
