I am looking for something that just removes the chlorine and chloramine like a carbon filter. But does not make RO water that way I won’t have to add additives or potentially have to worry about PH crashes. All I can find are big commercial units like below. Anything on the market more for home use?

Could you use an RODI unit but remove the RO membranes and just run through the sediment filter and carbon blocks? Can add a chloramine specific filter.

If you just run it through the sediment filters, carbon blocks, and chloramine filter it wouldn’t. My only concern would be pressure since without the RO membrane there wouldn’t be a lot of restriction. How’s your house water pressure? I can’t remember how much psi these units can handle. I run my unit between 85-90 psi without issue with the full RODI (no chloramine unit). The BRS 5 stage units come with a built in pressure gauge. Or you could make your own by hooking up RODI canisters and customizing them with however many sediment and carbon blocks, plus the chloramine remover.

I think we got it just called BRS and they gave good suggestions. So my plan is to run a RO drip system for the day to day and when I do 200 gallon water changes once a week. To run the waste water and RO water line into the tank. I know it sounds like it defeats the purpose but the waste line will be chlorine and chloramine free water as long as the TD out of the tap isn’t too high this mix should allow me to not have to wait a full 24 hours to re add the 200 gallons back to the tank since I will not be running any type of storage tank.

Let me know what you guys think.

Hmm that’s interesting. So basically not wasting any water with the waste line and not having to worry about remineralization. I would just double check the chlorine levels in the waste water. Should be clear but just to be safe. What’s your TDS out of the tap?

I run one of these 3 stage filters from BRS and us a 5 micron, 1 micron and chloramine filter (in that order) for my 450g tank. I changed the fitting out form 1/4" diameter to 1/2" diameter and it takes me about 1 hour to refill 200g of water. I'm assuming the filters aren't rated for that high of a flow, for filtering, but it seems to do a good job and the fish are happy. All water parameters are normal.

If you're just wanting to remove chlorine, why not a storage tank and chlorine remover like Safe?
$30/kg Safe treats 250,000 gallons, 8,000g per dollar
One of the carbon block filters from Dthompson's link is $18 and does 35K gallons for Chlorine or 3500 Chloramines, so about 2k gallons/dollar

I use a BRS three-stage filtration system for my 450-gallon tank, where I've installed filters with ratings of 5 microns, 1 micron, and chloramine (in that specific order). Recently, I upgraded the fittings from a 1/4" diameter to a 1/2" diameter. It takes approximately one hour to replenish 200 gallons of water with this setup. While it appears that the filters may not be designed for such a high flow rate, they have been effective in maintaining water quality, and my fish are thriving. All water parameters remain within the normal range.
