Thats odd. I never knew they liked the dark. When I had mine he would just sit and chill on the log right under the heat lamp and UV bulb all day. He seemed to love the light and his ambient temps were good too.

Well actually, this type of lizard likes the dark. When giving it light like this, make sure its localized so that it can still hide in the shad of leaves or logs.

Luc, I'm not gonna say you're wrong, but what you said goes against everything I've ever read about WDs. Got any legit references to back you up?

I saw it on TV. This realy famous guy in the states had like 10 of them in a cubbert. No light at all! I thought it was strange aswell. But this guy had like 100 lizards in his house and can posse the lizards in shape for a picture. Im not sure if this helps but here it goes. REPTILES MAGAZINE June 2004. Page 50. In darker letters. QUOTE " The author usese black mesh to cover the front and sides of his water dragon enclosures, which can help provide security. Plenty of climbing areas and basking lights help outfit the vertically oriented cages."

So I guess I was partialy right. This magazine also says to feed them every day. It also says red and white grapes, soft pears, figs and bananas make up the non insect part of the diet. He also says that the adults eat these. It says that his adults eat chiken cat food. I do not recommend this becaues cat food is for cats!

Actually I dont see where you were even partially right. The cage quoted in the magazine is still lit up but covered on the OUTSIDE.
