Actually your suposse to moist and then let your animal skin and cage dry out, otherwise they will endup with skin blisters and respiratory problems. In the wild green igs and water dragons alike go between areas of very low humity to areas full of humity as they climb to the top of the trees and back into shadow areas full of vegetation. And having allot of envoiroment moist will do litle to your animal body if for example he doesant drink allot of water. In your case having a water basin and plus the ocasional moist supplies every water needs of your ig regardless of the envoiromental moist.

It wasn't enough though, that was the problem. the "occasional" mist would bring the humidity up to 80% for about 5 minutes. then it would drop back down to 30% or lower..not healthy for a tropical lizard. After getting an auto mister it would keep humidity at least at 60% with it being much higher towards the bottom and a little lower towards the top.

In several places of the Carebian islands, South and Central America you find green iguanas living perfecty in dry savana and desert like conditions, they are very adaptable. If there is a big water basin to submerge you basicly already cut to half of the chase, the envoiroment humity is secundary.
