I don't know anything about why your fish didn't fry, but everytime somthing like that would happen to me when my dad was still alive. He would just look at me shake his head and say, " Boy you aren't liv'n right.

I didn't really think about it when it happened, but I should have unplugged it first. It all happened pretty fast so I didn't really think about anything as I did it.

I didn't realize this was such a common occurrence lol. This is pretty good info for fishkeepers to be aware of... Even though it's kind of common sense, except in my case apparently!

I hate getting shocked, glad your ok....BTW little fact. Water itself can not conduct electricity.

I had something like this happen to me before my hands where wet and the plug for the filter fell in the water I pulled it out and directly plugged it into the outlet, man 2nd most paintful thing in my life the secound I plugged it in I was KO 2-3sec blackout. Its not a fry cooked feeling I thought it would be like In the cartoons it was like a Mega painful viberation through my bones also which I think caused me to collapse never told anyone bout this I was home alone never goin to tell my parents but ever since I'm super careful around electric **** glad your okay! Lesson learned I guess

Your statement is close to being true. Distilled water will not conduct electricity.

Why is it "close to true"? That's obviously what they meant. Pure water cannot conduct electricity. It's the ions dissolved in water that do it. This makes SW a much better conductor as well
