This is weekend #3 on my fishless cycle and I wanted to know what people do when they're cycling a tank and the water begins to evaporate? Do you leave it be?

thanks. Brian

Put water in it.

It will become part of your routine and you won't even think about it any more. A small plastic food container will soon become your best friend. I ran a cottage cheese container through the dish washer and it now lives under my bathroom sink. I use it for top offs and I also have a bottle of dechlor in my medicine cabinet.

^good thats what I've been doing.

Its been 2 full weeks and I don't know why my ammonia is not spiking or going down. It's literally 1.0 ppm :( Should I just be more patient?

If you have another tank, put some filter media in this tanks filter to seed it with bacteria. You can also clean one filter, saving the water and sludge, and then pouring that into your new filter.

Agreed, or something like biospira, without a starting culture it takes forever to do a fishless cycle.

Awww..CHOMPERS has a little friend

Don't mix up the dechlor and eye drops (they don't get out chlorine :D )

( HOPE THE JOKE LIGHT WAS BRIGHT ENOUGH THIS TIME )

^thanks guys. I have a 3 fl. oz. pack of Bio-Spira in the frig and I'll crack it open as soon as I get this other 20gal. long from another MFK member :) I believe there is about 29.5ml per fluid oz, so I'm pretty sure that bag will be able to treat both my 55gal and the new 20gal since the 3fl oz. pack is recommended for 90gal anyway.

I don't have any older running tanks so I can't dip :( I'm a newbie lol.

Just think in 2 months you'll have a excuse to get another tank just to try it out. :D
