Water Filtration turn over- who is running the least?

Maybe a dumb question but, is everyone just going by the flow rating on your pumps or are you actually measuring flow rate from you discharge pipes? Or even seeing how long it takes to pump say 1500 gallons from your 1500GPH pump?

I'm putting 3400gph through a big trickle filter, 400gph through the uvc and 900gph for circulation..

475g tank..

My numbers are based on an estimate of around 9' of head pressure (my water is pumped 7' vertically and I added 2' for fittings and friction loss). According to Laguna's flow chart, my pump which does 4200GPH @ 0' head, does around 2,000GPH @ 9' head. I'm taking Laguna's word for the performance of their pumps...I haven't tested it and don't have any plans to.
