oh well put the option out there, if he wants to research it he can.

lol and if you read my resent post bradda I haven't dosed prime in almost a year along with any other chemicals. I am just watching out for others against bad advise.

i was just guessing as most people here use prime:D

RO/DI is kinda a pain since you have to have the extra storage, i actually have one but i use prime anyway on my freshwater, dont want to bother with traces..

but it is funny because i was just watching a show with a lady crazy about being green, so she said she doesnt use any chemicals in her house, she said she cleans it with vinegar. i wanted to tell her what is vinegar if not a chemical, it contains acetic acid. i just dont know why people think everything natural is good and everything man made is bad.

thanks boosten for all the information. your always a good help on this forum. i will shut off my light and let me peacocks enjoy the green water.

and thanks to the rest of the people helping me figure out the culprit.

No problem.

People don't realize that t5s are actually stronger then metal halids and have about double the lumens. You should get your cichla on a regiment and I recommend a timer for consistency in the future.. did I mention that your water changes for the next week or so should be large.

I am against chemicals unless they are absolutely necessary. From another recent thread...

I have no need for any chemicals since nyc water is superb. If you are going to use any chemicals the only one I recommend is Prime.. To tell you the truth one day I ran out and didn't have a chance to go to m lfs for a while.. I did a bunch of water chances and never saw a difference so stopped using the stuff.

its not in direct sunlight, but it is under a window. when the sun shines there is no sun on the tank itself.

i have a Coralife Aqualight Dual Linear Strip T5 Aquarium Lighting Fixture, 2X21 Watt, 36 inch on all the time.

will try the salt setup.

Definitely you're problem right there. Great advice given so far. With less light and water changes, you should be crystal clear in no time.

i used to have the same problem. i bought a little bottle of algaefix and once a week a put some drops in the water to control the algae and now my tank is crystal clear :)
