Water lettuce trimming...creates a giant single plant?

i have some in my 10 gallon...got it about 3 weeks ago but they have stayed at about an inch across so far, its mixed in with my frogbit, but i hope it gets bigger soon, even this small it shoots babies all the time so i have tuns of little ones all about an inch across or so

Those leaves look too round to be the larger species of water lettuce, but I'm no expert.
