Water Lily question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes, probably not "optimal" growing conditions. Plant low in the hanging pot so water covers the surface and the leaves will spread across the surface of the water outside the pot, great for impatiens too.

Thanks saltiery now more clear for me.

Worth to try but not so "optimal growing" as you have mentioned. Because 2 of my let's say "weakest" lilies from last season was the ones potted abt 35 cms (13,70 inches) under water, where as the best ones were placed abt 80 cms (31,50) inches. But I also believe I can try it for the newly cutted and potted young rhizoms of the new season. Thanks.

Impatients Salti?

Welcome....

Whats up w/ the bottom of the pond?

If it is gravel already, you can directly plant the lillies into the gravel. If they need to be in pots, try covering the soil w/ gravel. Koi are diggers by nature, and will continue to uproot things unless they are protected. Maybe try to fill the pots only half way w/soil, add lillies, and backfill w/a couple of inches of gravel.

Can't wait to see your pics.

this is how we did my friends... 8" pots... 4" special soil then gravel and top it off with a few larger river rocks... never a problem with them

try putting larger rocks around the plants bottoms so you have gaps for the plants to grow but the gaps are too deep and narrow for the kois to do anything it worked for me
