Caiman lizards or water monitor come to mind.

am I the only one who realized this kid is 14???
or am I the only one who thinks a 14 year old shouldnt get a water monitor or caiman

but if your doing it, and want a monitor Id do with a dumerils monitor or mangrove monitor, as savannahs will not wantm or need then water as they can't swim well and water monitors will cost a ton to feed like a lot

dumerils would likely be able to be fed if you have a good dubia colony and an asian food market near by

im ok with a 14yo kid having a caiman as long as its young. it wont be huge for awhile allowing him to learn. but there is a few posts in the past page and this one that makes me question it now.....

z, you need to do alot more research. ALOT....

Sorry man, I wish my parents would let me buy it and ship it to you, but my dad hates getting anything new, even if it's gonna be leaving again...:irked: Good luck on the search, I'd try and find another caiman if I were you..

As far as Caiman lizards under $500..

On the downside they're not as nice looking.. I'd go with the $500 one if you're getting one of them instead.
does rain forest pets not ship out of state?

chinese water dragon

I dont see a problem with him having them. I was only 15 when i got my 2 American Alligators.

Oh this just came to mind your gonna need to find a local vet that will work with large reptiles. One of my gators got sick and there wasnt a vet around me who worked with them.

I wouldn't mind it either if he was not asking random people what he should get, if he decided on his own what interest him the most as this is a huge commitment especially at that age
I don't really think that he has done much research or considered how he is going to care for a large animal especially a water monitor who has a huge appetite and will easily reach 4 ft in 15months, a lizard of that size is not going to be easily handled for much longer

I think you should research what fits your budget, your parents ideas, and what you can sustain properly for the period that you care for it
