How do i clean the water marks on the inside of my native tank, there jsut water lines from were the water used to be... is there any time of substance that will clean this without doing harm to the water or fish..

Cleaning it off with fish still in there or empty? If empty, just spray some vinegar on and wipe it off after a minute or two of soaking. If stocked, try a razor blade lightly, but realize that these minerals might dissolve and raise the hardness of the water when you do it.

If it was me, and the tank were stocked, I'd drop the water to 50% and take a clean cloth or non-bleach paper towel lightly soaked in vinegar and just go at it. Wipe it dry and refill. But I wouldn't give that advice lightly with all the things that could go wrong trying it that way, so be careful.

well its a stocked tank but when i do my 25% water changes i see a water mark from were the water used to be jsut wondering what is the safest way to get that to go away. just fill it past that with water :P? 50% doesent sound to safe

Yes, it might dissipate into the water if you fill it higher.

In a healthy, well-maintained tank, it's pretty much impossible to change too much water unless you suddenly stop changes entirely. I do 50% to 60% once a week on most of my tanks without a problem. Some discus keepers do 100% changes every day. The key is consistency.

i ahve not had my tank long, jsut got it all cycled and ph down ect, and did a 25% water change, do you recommend i start 50% once a week?

Follow the nitrAtes. Do whatever changes are necessary to keep the nitrAtes as low as you can. The nitrAte reading is the easiest and usually most reliable parameter to follow. I shoot for 5ppm to 15ppm in my Oscar tank, but let it get a little higher (20ppm to 30ppm) in some other tanks.

this stuff is always a pain in the ass! i usually use a razor blade. i dont bother with the chemicals. i have yet to find something that truly works at removing hard water stains

I agree totally. I have 8 tanks, and they all get 50% WC ( wait, except my saltwater, that's only 25% ) every week. It's just better for your fish! Actually, my Flowerhorn tank gets 1 - 50% and 2 -10%.

As for the water mark... Can you only see it when the water is down? During WCs? Cause my 75 shows a line, but once it's filled back up, you can't see it anymore...

yup its just when doing wc a line from were the water used to be, also i can see the back side of the tank is getting like a film over it almost as if some one blow there hot steam breath onto it, how do i clean that just with a towel during wc?

in my 57g planted, i add a GH booster so it has pretty hard water. and spill over the edge leaves the hard water spots on the outside. i also get a 'line' starting to form at the surface. since this is an open top rimless tank, its very unsightly. so every 3-4 days i scrape the 'line' away with a razor blade. gotta stay on top of it if not it will be very hard to remove
