hmm I dont think the goldfish did anything since I used that technique for my 215g and it was fine. When was your last water change? did you change the filter cartridge? how much are you feeding?

I'm assuming that it's an all in one filter... " if there's such a thing ".
Update:
I just finish doing the water change. Waiting for the tank to clear up a little and plan on doing a test.
You eliminated most of your benificial bacteria when you swapped out everything. Now the tank is going through a mini-cycle. You are going to need to do very frequent water changes to keep your parameters under control until the bacteria spreads enough to eliminate the ammonia and nitrites.Jeffrey_L;4558185; said:Actually - yes I did change the filter cartridge about a week ago. I replaced everything.
And as far as feeding goes, I can say yes I have been feeding them until there bellies are nice and round..
drgnfrc13;4558160; said:You need to change a lot more than 25%, I would do 50-60% changes daily until the ammonia and nitrites are at 0 and the nitrates are below 40.
Did you test your water during and after cycling, and if so, what were the parameters before you added the oscars?
So basically exactly what I already said.Deep Blue Sea;4558193; said:you should be doing water changes every week and I think because you changed the whole filter out you eliminated most of the bacteria that stops amonia and converts nitrites into nitrates. Your tanks going through a mini cycle so Id suggest doing daily water changes and using prime or amquel +
