Water Parameters...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was just ate Gander buying some Missouri Minnows as a treat, they gave me 5 dozen for $2 :). Should I be worried about the copper? I am about to retest my water and give results.

I wouldn't worry about the copper as long as you dont have a salt water tank. I would worry about the fish from Gander Mountain though. I got some for bait and they were in really bad shape. They had fungus and ulcerating septicemia :shakehead I was worried about infecting the St. Johns River with them.

Alright well i tested my TAP water and its ph is 7.4, NO Ammonia, NO Nitrates and NO Nitrites.....tank water is 2PPM for Nitrites, 7.4PH, 0 Ammonia, and in between 10-20PPM for Nitrates..is the PH good for a gar, 3 warmouth, a LMB, Lima Shovelnose and soon a red/yellow tail barracuda? and The tank seems to be almost done cycling..

Hold off for another week before adding the new fish. Wait for the Nitrites to drop to zero; then the cycling will be complete. The bacteria colony is doing well for the number of fish you have right now, though just barely. Adding another fish now will over load it and cause an ammonia spike. It is best to not put the current fish through more ammonia. Ammonia burns the gills and it is likely that they are still recovering.

7.4 for your pH is good and that is what you should look for when you test your water.

k, when i first put the fish in they would open and close their mouths in a spastic way it was pretty weird. any suggestions as to why? it was just the bass and warmouth that would do it...i added 20G yesterday of established tank water and a old filter media i drained it into the AC500

Behavior of fish when first added to the tank can be from a million reasons. Since it involved gulping action, it likely was from temperature change or a difference in osmotic pressure. Both can be regulated through the gills, so that's my best guess.

Adding the established media was a good thing. :grinyes:
