right this tank has been runnung for about 3 years ( new filter added 5 weeks ago) i got a new test kit yesterday as was using stipes (new one is drips) and i got these readings ph 7.8 ammonia 0 nitrite no2 0 nitrate no3 0 . i use alot of biological filteration in my fx5 so was wondering why there is no nitrite, i tested twice same results.

should i be worried?

fish all seem fine, no plants in the aquarium, alot of bog wood, some fake plants (silk), gravel substrate

well i just tested again and still the same results, the tank is due a water change today, but i think i will leave it

Expired, faulty, contaminated, etc.. It's very possible. I would take some water to your LFS and have it tested.. What is the purpose of testing the params on your tank though? Is there something wrong with a fish or the tank? Or are you just testing everything?

just testing, everything is fine, 1 fish was gasping quite alot the other week ( its not now) it was mainly just to see if if i should increase my water changes ( amount) i normally do about 40% a week

there seems to be alot of particals in my water also, not sure why but it never runs clear, i have plenty of filteration on it and rinced out the filter last week, not that drty, i am running a fx5 with bio rings in bottom 2 trays and carbon in the top

What brand/kind of test kit are you using?

0 for Ammonia/Nitrite is good (normal).

0 Nitrates (last cycle of the process) on an established tank is pretty much perfect. Not saying that's what you have, but that would be very hard on a freshwater fishonly setup.

I will get a test from my lfs tomorrow, i am at work at the mo so dont know the make, i do have alot of water movment at the surface, would that make a differance?

Did you read the instructions well and do all the shaking and waiting you're supposed to?
