When my tank was cycling, I tested ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH daily. Now I test nitrates 1-2 times a week and the rest once a month.

When I got my first tank with discus I had no idea what a cycle was and also didn't change water for about 5 months. The fish lived. I test for pH now if somethig seems wrong. It hardly ever is though. Now I have 13 tanks with over 40 species but no other test kits.

I also cook without a cookbook and drive without a driver's licence.
