water the yard with while doing a water change

Easy solution just put a hose with holes in it around your garden to water it will use less pressure and water a large area. If you want to water your yard just give up already on the sprinkler it won't work not worth it. plus if you are so inclined put the pre filter before the pump so you don't wear the pump down with sediment. should be the same amount of resistance.
 
agreed won't work because lack of pressure, but you could gravity feed you lawn if someone moves the hose around. I don't understand why you would want it filtered either, it's going out to you lawn, how clean is your dirt?
 
I just hook the end of the garden hose up to a soaker hose to water the hedges on each side of our driveway
 
You're probably wright. I did think that this effect would be elliminated due to the one-way valve or normal valve when sprinkler is shut of, and then the pressure of the water in the storage tank above the sprinkler would be greater than the pressure of the water from the sprinkler. However this would probably only work for a certain amount of water (large enough pressure from tank = more water). Butt I still think with tight lid on storage tank like you said, this could work.
